Drama this January-March 2012:
PLAY YT Presents
This play tells the story of a group of young people who head off in a minibus for a weekend of bonding and self-discovery. Filled with fiery and often fierce characters, their optimistic and energetic teacher Sarah tries desperately to unite them as a group through drama games and positive thinking. However, things get tricky and they find themselves stuck in the woods in a situation that even causes Sarah to doubt their survival.
Directors are Joanne Quinn & Aoife Carry with guest facilitators.
The PLAY YT Project is run by the Arts Office, North Tipperary County Council as part of the County Arts Development Programme. This programme is supported by the Arts Council.

Following last year’s successful Beckett show, the Arts Centre brings three of his short plays to Nenagh. Cruel and humorous in equal measure, Beckett’s work shines a light on the human condition. The plays this evening are:
1) Rough for Theatre 2: 2 observers who may or not be officials discuss another man.
2) That Time: An Irish labourer after years in Britain looks back on his earlier life and his disappointing career before he dies.
3) Rockaby: An old woman,sick of life, rocks herself into the next life.

Respectable, dull Victorian life does not sit well with the talented Dr. Henry Jekyll. However, when he concocts a potion that transforms him into a new man, the pleasure seeking and cruel Edward Hyde, things begin to change. Hyde’s high-living comes at a cost - a violent nature that threatens both Jekyll’s public and private life and ultimately his sanity.

Shakespeare comes to life in The Romeo & Juliet Session! The bard directs a group of
modern actors in his romantic tragedy. However, problems arise as Mr. Shakespeare’s
sixteenth century attitudes and demeanor clash with those of the modern performers. Arguments, discussion and enlightenment ensue!
The Merchant Session: An entertaining and informative synthesis of analysis and performance to aid students in their understanding of Merchant of Venice while at the same time highlighting what a fine comedy it is. The 95 minute performance is a reduced version of the play and contains an entertaining scholarly review
that clarifies the main themes and topics.
