Denis Cotter has been at the avant garde of vegetarian and seasonal cooking since he opened his acclaimed Cork restaurant Paradiso in 1993.
In this event both chefs will discuss food, recipes, the best way to eat and their latest books with Peter Ward of Nenagh’s Country Choice.
Peter Ward, originally from a traditional farming background in Co. Meath, set up the delicatessen and café, ‘Country Choice’ in 1982 with his wife Mary. They have gained a national reputation for sourcing, cooking and selling the best of Irish food. Peter is a passionate advocate of using local, seasonal, organic produce and he continuously promotes the work of the best of Irish artisan producers. In February of this year Peter and Mary were awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Irish Food Writers Guild food awards.
Mark Moriarty is a former Irish and San Pellegrino world young chef of the year and was listed on the Forbes 30 under 30 for innovation in the arts. He presents the popular RTÉ series Off-Duty Chef and has worked in several well-known Irish restaurants including The Greenhouse, which held 2 Michelin stars. His first cookbook, Flavour was a bestseller and winner of the Cookbook of the Year at the An Post Book Awards.
Denis Cotter is the owner and executive chef of Paradiso in Cork. He is the author of four previous books: The Café Paradiso Cookbook (1999), Paradiso Seasons (2003), Wild Garlic, Gooseberries … and Me (2007) and For the Love of Food (2011). Denis is always working and yet always trying to retire to pursue his other career as a barman and to find the time to learn to play trombone.
