For this event, three brilliant contemporary Irish writers will discuss their recent debut novels with journalist and author, Anna Carey.

Sinéad Gleeson’s Hagstone explores the life of an artist working in an island community while also examining her own past and the challenges of making art. Writer and broadcaster Sinéad Gleeson was born in Dublin. Her previous book is the bestselling collection of essays, Constellations.

Niamh Mulvey’s The Amendments charts the period of social change in Ireland between 1983 and 2015 through the prism of constitutional referenda and the effect they had on 3 generations of one family. Niamh Mulvey was born in Kilkenny and worked in London publishing for many years. Her first book, the critically acclaimed Hearts & Bones was published in 2022.

Fiona McPhillips’ When We Were Silent is a gripping psychological drama set in an exclusive Co Dublin private school with a dark secret. Fiona McPhillips is an Irish journalist, author, and screenwriter, and an editor at The Forge literary magazine. When We Were Silent, the runner-up for the 2021 Crime Writers’ Association Debut Dagger, is her first novel. Fiona lives in Dublin.
