Acclaimed historical drama Palestine 36 will be screened at Nenagh Arts Centre on Tuesday May 5th at 7pm.

Directed by renowned Palestinian filmmaker Annemarie Jacir, the film is a powerful historical biopic set during the Arab revolt of 1936 – 1939 against British colonial rule in Mandatory Palestine. Through a wide ranging ensemble of characters, the film explores a period of profound upheaval, resilience and resistance.

Palestine 36 captures the human cost of conflict and the complexities of life under colonial rule in the early 20th century, offering an emotionally charged and deeply immersive cinematic experience.

Premiering at the Toronto International Film Festival, the film received a 20-minute standing ovation and went on to be shortlisted for Best International Feature Film at the 98th Academy Awards.

Described by The Guardian as “an emotionally stirring drama,” the film has been widely praised for its scale, ambition and emotional depth.
