Nenagh Youth Theatre has been the resident youth theatre at Nenagh Arts Centre since 2009. Our focus is on creating a fun and innovative approach to theatre, challenging attitudes across the arts by offering weekly professionally led theatre workshops and high quality arts experiences for young people aged 12-18. This year Nenagh Youth Theatre is running two programmes that will take place every Saturday: NYT Players (10am-12pm) and NYT Explorers (12pm-2pm).
NYT Players: This Programme is for new and continuing members interested in developing new skills in theatre making and performance. NYT Players will develop skills in acting, improvisation, creative writing and directing. They will participate in the Nenagh Youth Drama Festival, an intimate showing of work for family and friends.
NYT Explorers: This programme is for continuing members that are interested in learning the process of exploring a play and staging a production. NYT Explorers will develop skills in acting, production design and physical theatre. They will stage a full play at the end of the second term, with the theme of this play falling into the area of mystery. (NOTE: This programme is not open to new members)
Nenagh Youth Theatre is open to new members aged 12-17 who are looking for a creative outlet to express themselves, gain an understanding of theatre as an art form while making memories and having lots of fun.
The 20 workshop term costs €100.
Dates for the 2025 term:
Every Saturday from 11th January – 22nd March for 10 weeks!
