Craft Share Weaving Special with Lucy Moore, Monday October 13th, 10am – 1pm, FREE
In this workshop, Lucy Moore will show us how to create a simple weaving loom using cardboard, string and strips of fabric or yarn. She will also give an insight into and share images from her broader practice as a textile artist.
Lucy is a textile artist, weaver and garden designer who uses local hedgerow and meadow plants to make natural dyes and inks. She has a degree in constructed textiles from NCAD and has received many awards for her woven and naturally dyed work. Lucy uses natural fibres such as linen and wool in an effort to work as sustainably as possible.
The taught part of the workshop will be 10am – 11am.
11am – 1pm will give you time to practice and play with weaving.
Please note that if you wish to take part in this workshop it is important that you arrive ready to begin at 10am. You are welcome to stay for as long or as little as suits you from 11am onwards.
Our weaving will be inspired by the beauty and nature of the bog. Why not go for a walk on a local bog, or look at pictures? Bring any pictures, pieces of fabric or yarn that represent bogs to you to incorporate into your weave.
If you want to join in, you can prepare (although this is not obligatory) by watching this film about Irish bog lands below:
