Dromineer Nenagh Literary Festival’s opening event sponsored by The Wine Buff features writers published by Doire Press, Claire Hennessy & Paul Perry.

Claire Hennessy is a writer, editor and creative writing facilitator from Dublin. Best known as an author and reviewer of young adult fiction, she has also published short fiction and poetry in various anthologies and literary journals, including The Moth, The Lonely Crow, ROPES, Crannóg, Southword, and Necessary Fiction. Her short stories have won the Doolin Short Story Prize (Ireland, 2015) and the Virginia Faulkner Award (USA, 2022). She is the recipient of three Arts Council bursaries and holds M.Phil. degrees from TCD in Creative Writing and Popular Literature.

Paul Perry is an award-winning poet and novelist. He has co-authored four international bestselling novels as Karen Perry, and his own novels The Garden and Paradise House (2025, Somerville Press) are critically acclaimed. He is a professor at UCD where he directs The Mary Lavin Centre for Creative Writing. He has won the Hennessy Prize and the Listowel Poetry Prize, and has written five poetry colletions, the last of which was shortlisted for the Farmgate Prize. Clockhammer, Paul’s new poetry collection, is forthcoming from Doire Press in Autumn, 2025.
