Youth Theatre Volunteer Leader Wanted – Nenagh Arts Centre

Youth Theatre Volunteer Leader Wanted

Nenagh Youth Theatre is seeking a Volunteer Leader to support the ongoing development of our vibrant youth theatre community.

As a Volunteer Leader, you will work alongside the Youth Theatre Facilitator and Assistant Facilitator to help deliver an engaging, year-round drama programme. This includes assisting with the planning and delivery of regular drama workshops and supporting young people as they explore their creativity and develop performance skills.

Volunteers will operate under the direction and supervision of the Youth Theatre Coordinator and will play an important role in ensuring the wellbeing and safety of all youth theatre members. All work will be carried out in line with the Nenagh Youth Theatre and Nenagh Arts Centre Code of Good Practice and Conduct.

Comprehensive training will be provided, covering topics such as youth wellbeing, safeguarding, and effective facilitation skills.

Through your involvement, you’ll gain hands-on experience in workshop delivery, youth engagement, and drama practice—an excellent opportunity for anyone interested in theatre, youth work, or community arts.

Time Commitment

Nenagh Youth Theatre runs two weekly workshops on Saturdays. Volunteers may choose to assist with one or both sessions:

  • Session 1: 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
  • Session 2: 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.
We’re looking for volunteers who are:
  • Enthusiastic about theatre and the arts
  • Good communicators
  • Reliable and responsible
  • Supportive and encouraging
  • Team players
  • Organised and adaptable

Previous experience in drama, facilitation, youth work, or education is welcome but not essential—enthusiasm, empathy, and a willingness to learn are what matter most.

As a Volunteer Leader, you will:
  • Gain hands-on experience in youth arts facilitation, workshop planning, and creative leadership.
  • Develop valuable skills such as communication, teamwork, organisation, and mentoring.
  • Build confidence in working with young people and leading creative activities.
  • Learn from experienced facilitators through training, observation, and guided practice.
  • Make a real difference by helping young people express themselves, build self-esteem, and explore their artistic potential.
  • Be part of a supportive arts community connected to the wider Nenagh Arts Centre network and local creative projects.
  • Access training and development opportunities in areas such as youth wellbeing, safeguarding, and drama facilitation.
