About Us

Nenagh Arts Centre is a vibrant cultural hub in the heart of Nenagh, presenting a bold and diverse programme of theatre, music, visual arts, film, and community events. We support professional artists, foster creativity across all ages, and offer inclusive opportunities for participation and connection. Through high-quality performances, workshops, and outreach, we aim to inspire, engage, and enrich our community through the power of the arts.

Our Vision

Nenagh Arts Centre envisions a vibrant, inclusive community where cultural opportunities are available to all and creativity is part of everyday life. We aim to create spaces and experiences that actively engage people of all ages and backgrounds, inspiring connection, dialogue, and a shared sense of belonging through the arts. By fostering participation, supporting artistic excellence, and championing diverse voices, we strive to be a central hub for cultural life in Nenagh and the wider region.

Our Mission

Nenagh Arts Centre is committed to providing a dynamic and inclusive programme of events and performances that are accessible to a wide and diverse audience in Nenagh and its surrounding areas. We strive to nurture a creative culture that places children and young people at its heart, supports youth creativity, and celebrates the richness of our diverse cultural heritage.

We champion professional artists across a range of artforms, commissioning work that is relevant, engaging, and reflective of contemporary life. Through artist residencies, we support the development of new and innovative work.

Our outreach programmes aim to connect with both new and existing audiences, fostering creativity, encouraging active participation, promoting individual and community wellbeing, and advocating for equal access to the arts as a fundamental right.

History Nenagh Town Hall

Nenagh Arts Centre is housed in a beautifully restored heritage building in the heart of Nenagh. Originally constructed in 1895, the building was designed by then Town Engineer Robert Gill, grandfather of Tomás Mac Giolla TD and former Lord Mayor of Dublin. With its distinctive three-bay façade and elegant round-headed doors and windows, the building has long been a focal point of the town.

Over the years, it has served as Nenagh’s public library and later as the home of Nenagh Town Council. Following a major refurbishment, the building was transformed into a vibrant cultural venue featuring a 190-seat theatre and studio spaces for local community groups. Reopened as Nenagh Arts Centre in 2010, it has since become a hub for creativity, performance, and community engagement. The Nenagh Tourist Office has also found a home within the centre, welcoming visitors and further enriching the space’s role in the local community.
