Composer and producer Caomhán Maccana brings his debut national tour, The Unseen Growth of Winter, to Nenagh Arts Centre for an intimate evening of original piano music.
Presented as a live 70-minute recital, the programme showcases Maccana’s distinctive compositions, blending contemporary classical influences with a deeply personal sense of place and atmosphere. His music has drawn comparisons to composers such as Erik Satie, Hania Rani and Arvo Pärt, creating soundscapes that are both reflective and evocative.
Originally from the Irish borderlands, Maccana has spent more than two decades composing and producing music for drama, documentary and broadcast productions, working with organisations including the BBC, RTÉ and Newstalk. His work has taken him across Ireland, Europe, North America and Mexico, and earned recognition at the 2025 Celtic Media Festival.
The performance features original works including Tras el Invierno, Athrú, Ven a Mí and Tonnta Dé, alongside music developed during an artistic residency at the Tyrone Guthrie Centre. The programme also includes the title composition The Unseen Growth of Winter and Éan, written in memory of Moya Brennan of Clannad.
A captivating evening of contemporary piano music, storytelling and atmosphere from one of Ireland’s most distinctive emerging composers.
