The Company of Trees is a rich and immersive performance celebrating our long and complex relationship with the forest world through literature, music and song. Drawing on poetry and prose by writers such as Seamus Heaney, Mary Oliver and John Muir, alongside music by Natalia Hatz, Colm Mac Con Iomaire and Ralph Vaughan Williams , the show explores the emotional, environmental and philosophical impact of trees on our lives.
Performed by Michael James Ford, Sinead Murphy and Darina Gallagher with the Delmaine String Quartet, the production also features striking photographic and video imagery by Brendan Keogh, including drone footage of native forests.
“Never say there is nothing beautiful in the world anymore. There is always something to make you wonder in the shape of a tree, the trembling of a leaf.” – Albert Schweitzer
