After Sol – An Exhibition by Mary Conroy

After Sol – An Exhibition by Mary Conroy, November 3rd – 30th, Free Admission

Launch: November 5th, 6pm

After Sol is a thought-provoking exhibition by artist Mary Conroy that explores the growing disconnect between humanity and the natural world.

Drawing inspiration from Abstract Expressionism and Minimalism, while remaining deeply rooted in craft-based practices, Conroy creates works using unconventional natural materials including plant inks, recycled paper and wild clay. These are combined with drawings made using mass-produced black pens, bringing together two contrasting worlds within a single visual language.

Central to the exhibition is the tension between permanence and change. The natural materials continue to shift and evolve over time, reflecting the cycles of growth, decay and renewal found in nature, while the black ink remains fixed and unchanging. Through this juxtaposition, After Sol examines humanity’s desire for permanence against the reality of an ever-changing natural environment.

Rich in texture and subtle detail, the exhibition invites viewers to consider their relationship with the world around them and to reflect on the fragile balance between the human-made and the natural.
