Born in Nenagh, Co. Tipperary, Gerri O’ Brien has been living in Galway since 2000. Her artistic practice crosses the definable categories of Art, Craft and Design, where she predominantly employs hand-stitch to explore pertinent issues relating to the human condition and socio-political subjects including identity, disability and encroachment.   Extracts from her personal and work(ing) diaries also inform her work.

Her work has been selected for the Royal Hibernian Academy’s Annual Exhibition, Dublin in 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024. She was awarded the Alex Bradley Award in 2022.

Other group exhibitions include ‘Dear PrEUdence: Positive Headspace in the EU’, European Parliament Brussels (2023), ‘Mixed Media Exhibition’ Lessedra Gallery, Sofia (2024-2025) and ‘Bloodroot’, Pulchri Studio, The Hague, (2025).
